The Web Beyond Platforms

At its core, the web is about people and connections. Every email, every forum post, every blog entry or obscure service exists because someone wanted to reach someone else. The web is communication, shared thoughts, services, creations - the human side that protocols only carry.

This is why automation has such mixed consequences. In services - banks, clouds, infrastructure - automation is a blessing. It keeps things running, removes drudgery, and scales what would otherwise collapse. But in communication, automation poisons the well. Algorithms distort interaction, likes flatten nuance, and rigid formats squeeze human expression into whatever fits the feed.

The truth is, the best "social network" has always been the internet itself. An open web without gatekeepers, without enforced structures or dictated formats. The small web, indie web, or yesterweb represents this spirit: a web where people post because they want to, not because the algorithm nudges them to. A web where pages don't look the same, where wandering through links feels like a journey rather than scrolling down a conveyor belt.

This "small web" is not nostalgia, but freedom. It means discovering someones personal site and being surprised by its design. It means following links into odd corners of knowledge. It means stumbling onto niche passions that no platform would ever consider engagement-worthy.

That's the feeling I value and want to share. The web, at its best, is not a product. It's an exploration. It's human.
And I'm recording founded treasures in this simple doc
